Default Adding OEM remote start module

I just picked up a 2007 ES 350 with the Ultra Luxury package yesterday, and the only feature it's missing is remote start. I did some digging and it appears the remote start module can be added for about $125:

Amazon Amazon

Has anybody used this module in their ES 350 that can vouch for it functioning properly? I'd prefer to get a remote start that's as OEM as possible, rather than adding an after-market one that comes with its own special remote I have to carry.

Thanks for your help!

Here's a couple different links to this subject. It seems that many people have used this Fortin module but it has some downsides ie.. Poor range and intense install, where other units have better range and easier install but add an extra fob to your key chain. Fortin looks to be the only module that you can get in the car with out the safety feature shutting off the car. All other brands shut the cars engine off when the door is opened to prevent theft.

Good luck!

I want to make sure I'm clear, because the threads seem to have some conflicting information - does the Fortin module I linked to (and which the first thread refers to) result in the engine being killed when the door opens, or is that another type of OEM module that does that? I don't want to carry a second remote (and put in a module that's going to defeat the anti-theft at all), and it seems like the Fortin is going to work best (with the complaints being short distance and a 400-step install, as you noted), but it sounds like that's the correct module to do what I'm looking for while being least invasive - is that correct?

Maybe I'm just new to the terminology - feel free to tell me to do my homework if that's what's necessary

I would definitely look in to it a bit more, I'm not an expert at all but from what I've read I would pay for the intense install if my car will continue to run when the door is open and there's no extra fob, I could also deal with the shorter distance as my car is usually in the garage or driveway.

It would be nice to find a straight answer as to if the Fortin module shuts the car off when the door is open or can be wired to keep it running.

I added a link to the Fortin website:
