I bought a used 2009 Premium Plus pkg in red/ivory. The driver's seat has a tear in the ventilated section, which I didn't think would be a big deal. Looks like I was wrong.

I was hoping to have just a new piece of leather installed, but it turns out you have to buy a seat cover from the dealer (cheapest price found about $930) because of the airbags in the seats and special stitching as well as matching the leather. Looks like over $1k to fix.

I was going to throw a sheepskin cover over it for now, but one of the upholstery shops cautioned me to be careful because it can cause problems with the airbags if they deploy and actually injure me.

Any thoughts? Other fixes others have performed? I've seen entire seats on Ebay, but I can't tell if they have all the same options (which seems to make a difference according to the different part numbers on the schematics) so I don't know if they'll match.

Check with your Lexus dealer for the leather repair guy that does this kind of work for them. He should be able to fix this. It won't be like new, but it will look a lot better and cost you way less money.

I had a rip from a dog whose nails ripped the rear seat in several places. I called around and found a company named Dr. Vinyl that did the seat repairs for the local Toyota and Lexus dealer. The repair was in the ventilated area and after they glued a seam repair and covered it in a leather bonding agent, simulated the vent holes, then sanded and sprayed a dye to match. End result was great and the repair is still holding. Not sure if they are in CA, but I'd check around.
Forgot to mention this company came to my house and charged $125.
