I talked to Jerry Johnson today about an extended warranty. New rules are that you have to purchase them in person not over the phone from another state.

I'd read that in a previous thread. Too bad, as a lot of people saved significantly going through him and a couple of others.

What can we collectively do about this? I am real upset as I've purchased at least 6 warranties from Jerry over the years for Toyotas and Lexus models.

I would never pay a local dealer what they wanted for a warranty knowing that the difference is pure profit for the dealer.

This policy benefits no one except local dealerships and is anti consumer.

This shows Toyota wants to protect dealerships and to hurt consumers.

Is there a campaign against this?

Yes, it stinks.
I will go to Troy Dietrich in MA when I decide to buy a warranty.
Saving $800 or so is worth a 5 hour round trip to me.
