Default Oil Dipstick

hi i was wondering is there any way to tell if i have the correct dipstick for my vehicle without going to the dealer and asking them to put it next to another one they have ?

im wondering i know that we get great oil consumption compared to what i have had in other cars
i used to be always adding oil
but now with the ES350 07
i never have to add oil between oil changes

the last 25k every 5k i change oil and i never loose one drop of oil between oil changes atleast acording to the dipstick its always the same from the time the oil change happens untill the time its time to do it again

Even if you had the wrong dip stick, it would still show the oil level dropping if the engine were using it or you had a oil leak. The wrong dipstick would probably not fit snuggly at the top of the tube.

i was just thinking maybe the one i had might be to long if its not the right one and thats why its showing and reading full all the time but now that i think about it it would still change on the dipstick if it was the wrong one or not

I now use a 9 quart oil suction tank and have marked off 6 1/2 quarts which is about the spec. I just did my 25K oil change and it takes out just a little over 6 quarts. When I empty the filter it's just about 6 1/4 quarts. The oil I take out is as clean as the oil I put in. It would be nice if they mounted the filter where you can get it out from the top of the engine but it is what it is. Never burned or lost any oil that I can tell. Do change every 5000 miles with Castrol 5W-30 dino oil.

If you pull out the dipstick, you should be able to find a part number stamped into it somewhere. Then just stop by your dealer with your VIN and have them confirm that it's the right part. But... it's not like Lexus would be putting the wrong one in.

You must have been driving older domestic vehicles from the "Big 3" in the past. These cars don't use any oil. My last ES had 150K on it, as does our Highlander, and my current ES is just about to roll over 100K. I've never, ever had to add a drop of oil to any of them.

Modern cars rarely burn oil. Consider yourself lucky. I very rarely have to add oil between changes on any of my cars.

I had a '98 Honda Accord with 150k miles that burned about 1 quart every 5k miles. It went in amber and came out black. My '99 Land Cruiser with the 4.7L V8 with 115k miles burns nothing and the color of the oil at 5k miles is only slightly darker than when I put it in.
