You can also buy clear vinyl and apply it over the buttons, which will protect the rubber from oils and sunlight.

My buttons and the center arm rest are like new. That's because I clean and maintain them regularly. I use the best cleaners on the planet because my Lexus deserves all that.

I'm curious what you consider to be the "best cleaners on the planet."

Well I finally just bought a $4.00 can of paint, used about 10 sprays of it, and took about 1 hour to paint them.

It looks a hell of a lot better than before. Not perfect but hey....its a 9 year old car. (with only 90,000 miles) Lot better than $300 for a new part.

Can you tell me what spray paint you used? I have a serious case of peeling buttons. I also had the melting dashboard and had that replaced gratis, but they refused to replace the buttons on the steering wheel. I'm certainly willing to save $300 and use a can of spray paint!

I have been searching all over the place for the solution of the peel-off paint from the control buttons on the steering wheel, and I stumbled upon your post. How did it work out for you?

Your best bet is going to junk yard, which i didn't get any luck by calling. I tried the plastic stickers and it looks not much better, always budging up peel off easy under hot summer sun. The new replaced one on eBay is selling around $200 and up so i end up searching on ebay for a whole steering wheel for ES 350 from 2007 -2012 and got one for $125 shipped. Not much cheaper but at least i am no longer looking at the ugly white plastic peel audio control on mine. Swapping that thing out on steering wheel is quite easy.

I bought used controls from a newer ES that has the buttons without the film. I did see a seller on eBay who reapplies the film on these buttons and offers a life-time warranty for ~$50...

Don't feel bad the controls on my steering wheel are absolutely destroyed especially the Bluetooth buttons. Wife complains about it every time she gets in the car.... But I found these online, has anyone else had any experience with these?

Default Buy a steering column from a junkyard and replace them

I just bought a 2012 steering column that came with a steering wheel and the controls from Weaverauto in Fairburn Atlanta for $80 and replaced both of them myself within 30 minutes,
You can look up Youtube on how to remove the airbag and you can replace them yourself. It is plug and play. Absolutely easy and perfect fit.
Guys don't waste your time doing anything else.

The 2010 plus buttons are way nicer and are compatible. I ended up also buying a steering wheel last month off of eBay. I planned to just update the buttons but ended up swapping the entire steering wheel. Very easy to do you just need a Torx bit to remove the air bag and a big socket to remove the steering wheel itself. I know I went from a black to a gray steering wheel but without the flash it’s dark gray the same color as my faded dash. In my opinion it looks good contrasting with the darker airbag. All of my wood is mismatched, my steering wheel and shifter were yellow my dash and doors were red. I bought a perforated leather shift **** on Amazon that matches my new 2012 es350 steering wheel perfectly.
