Default Ready to pull the trigger on a 2007 ES need advice

I was set on a used IS250 but I have decided to get an ES350 instead.
I have found one at a Lexus dealership. The car looks like new on the outside, even though it has over 70K miles. The inside is in great shape too. One owner. I checked both
Carfax and Lexus website. Nothing abnormal. The dealer provides 3 months or
5,000 warranty.
My question is: should I have it check by an independent mechanic?

Absolutely have a trusted mechanic check it out. The 3/5 is probably nothing more than a limited power train warranty. On a side note the $17K seems a little steep to me.

if you have options such as rear sun shad - navagation park assist
then 17 is a good price in my book if you don't have those options than 17 is a bit steep in my book

It doesn't have nav. It has everything on the premium plus package.
The price without taxes and fees is 15,400.
Unfortunately in California the prices are higher.

Like the others said: I would confirm the water pump and also VVT oil line, both for leaks. If they are offering the warranty then it is fairly safe to go with them and see to negotiate a lower price

I have 2007 ES350 with 71k miles, driven for over 4yrs, I had one rear coil fail (error P0351), one xenon head light bulb ($50 from Amazon) fail but no other issues. Still drives like new. Make sure the car you are buying has not had any major accidents. If it has service history then you are set. The price is average but ES is really solid, same engine as 2007 Camry V6, unlike IS. FYI, for last 4 yrs I have been using regular with no issues.
