Default Ultra pkg, Stuck Radio button , cost to fix. and used buy advice.

Hello All,
I am looking into a 2007 ES350, Ultra Package, really great looking car, only thing I find is that the "AM" radio button if pushed is stuck , it may take some knocking , shaking to get it out, other buttons seem 'iffy' (do not know what type of fingers did the previous owner have .

I am curious, what is the cost to fix those buttons ? is it a 'dealership' only thingy ? also what to look for in a 120 Km (75K miles) car in general ?

Regards

A.K.

If your keen on the car, demand that the seller have it fixed before you discuss the deal further. And ask for documentation of the repair too. Personally, I would move on from the car.

hmm someone must have had sticky fingers or kids that just hammer the buttons down

like garsarno said build into the deal the owner gets it repaired or if he or she doesn't want to repaire it then have a shop look at it and tell them the only way that you will buy it is to deduct what the repair will cost from the sale price otherwise walk

To add to what the others have said: a Lexus dealer will most likely not bother disassembling the head unit to fix a stuck button as it's not something they have experience on, plus they won't have the parts. Sounds like a new or used head unit to me, plus labor, which may cost a bundle. Don't let the seller off the hook on this if you really want the car--ensure the seller has it fixed at a reputable repair facility--one that you trust to do the job correctly. Or find out what a head unit from Lexus will cost and deduct that amount from the price. This has the potential to be a real money pit.

Also on another note

Ill bet that the Seller there is a good chance the seller already knows the cost of this repair come on something that you probably use every day
has allready been diagnosed and there is a reason it hasn't been fixed because it isn't cheap
and the seller is most likely trying to hid it from you
by now telling you about it and letting you find it on your own
