Default 2007 es350 radio panel on/off randomly

I've had 2 episodes in the last month of my radio digital display going blank, and none of the radio buttons work except for volume and the right **** for manual frequency selection. The sound itself is fine. Hours later, it comes back on like normal. Restarting car alone, without waiting like overnight, will not restore the digital panel. Anyone have this problem, or have any idea what might be wrong? Air conditioner, other lights work fine. Has 35,000 on it. Thanks!

I would hazard a guess to it is a loose connection internal to the unit. Time for a warranty repair.

Guess I'm out of luck, since it's a 2007 and I'm out of warranty. Wonder if I call Lexus customer service direct 1-800 if I could get them to fix this for me? Not much miles to have such a basic unit not work.

It wouldn't cost you anything to try calling cusotmer service. My guess is that you might not get any help but it sure can't hurt to try....Good luck,,

I have had a similar problem intermittently for several years. I have been able to use the controls on the steering wheel. You might try that.

The dealership told me that the problem could only be eliminated by replacing the radio.

Thanks for the info. I'll try the sterring wheel control next time. Contacted Lexus at 1-800-25Lexus. They seemed willing to help if it happened long enough for me to bring it in and let a dealer check it. I live 2 hrs from a dealer, but we'll see how it goes.

This has recently been happening to me too. It started a couple weeks ago. The radio turns on and the audio functions as usual, but the display is blank. When this happens (about four times in two weeks) the volume and tuner ***** sometimes work and sometimes don't. Each time the display eventually comes back on (as well as the *****) a few minutes into my travels. One time the display came on, but every function was visible (the display light up every possible option and number). And another time when i turned on the radio a CD ejected. It's definitely on the fritz.

It has been REALLY hot and humid here in New York - could this be a factor? It first happened in the middle of one of our heat waves. My ES is black on black. HOT...literally!!!

I think that probably is a factor. I may have had the problem once when it was not very hot. Otherwise, it has always occurred in very hot weather.

Probably not. The warranty is 4 years or 50,000 miles, whichever comes first.

Unless your dealer will do something for you.

My 2009 ES350 has started acting funky lately. The screen has gone blank a couple of time, and just this morning the volume **** would not turn the volume up or down, but the steering wheel controls would work.

After shutting the car of a couple of times the volume **** finally worked, and the temp outside was not that hot being it was 8am. Guess I'll make an appointment with the dealer on Monday.

Default So I'm not alone....

Interesting others are having similar problems with the radio display/controls. I've never had this with any other car I've ever owned, including an ES300 1999 before my current ES350 2007. Disappointing for Lexus to not have addressed this before. I imagine getting the radio out and changed would involve a lot of labor cost. Anyone have any idea how much?

I don't the labor would be too much but the radio replacement alone is $1900.

Default Fix that worked for me!

This Problem just happend to my 07 es350. After reading the response that it might be due to a loose connection, i decided to punch my radio... LIGHTLY! And amazingly the blank green screen had words again and the control buttons worked again!

Default Lexus should follow this thread...

When you've to hit a Lexus radio to make it work, somethings not right, and it's not just me. They should fix this for us by replacing the radio beyond the usual warranty period. I wonder how many 2007 radios have had this problem?
