Hi,

I was reading service manual, and it says that every 15K you need to "Lubricate Drive shaft & re-torque nuts and bolts". Does anyone know what this is, or if its even applicable to ES350?

i never heard of that and don't think it applies to an ES350.

right in the maintenance schedule of the owner's manual.

What year are you looking at? The 2011 ES350 Maintenance Schedule (Canada) at every 12 months/16000 kms states........."inspect driveshaft and steering rack boots" and as a separate step........"inspect chassis nuts and bolts on body". The reference to the driveshaft boots would be for both the LH and RH driveshafts and their CV joint boots (2 joints and 2 boots each shaft). These, along with the two steering rack boots should be checked for cuts/tears and signs of power steering fluid leaks for the steering rack, and thrown grease for the driveshaft boots. There is no lubrication involved.......just a visual inspection. This is the only reference to "driveshaft" that I see.

There is no lubricating the "driveshaft" because there is no driveshaft. The es350 is the only fwd vehicle. You could inspect the boots on the cv axles in the front on the trains and hub as someone else stated.

The driveshaft is also mentioned in the Lexus website when looking up the service schedule. I just ordered the service manual on DVD and will look up this driveshaft as I too am only familiar to the reference on RWD vehicles.
