Default Passenger Seat Vibration/Rattle Resolution?

Has anyone on this forum experienced a significant vibration/rattle in the front passenger seat AND had it fixed to your satisfaction? It only occurs when the seat is unoccupied. If you have, I would greatly appreciate information about how it was fixed. It's driving me crazy.

Thanks, Mike

I haven't had it fixed (not sure what could be done) but I find moving it eliminates the vibration.

I wish I could resolve it by moving the seat. The only thing that stops it is putting some weight on the seat back. I've been putting a 40 pound bag of sand (wrapped in a towel) propped against the seat back. This is not a real solution but it stops the annoying rattle.

is the rattle that bad? I have a slight rattle on the passenger seat of my 09 RX350, but its barely noticable unless its very quiet with the audio off.

If the noise was not that noticeable I wouldn't give it much thought. But it is very annoying. It happens quite often, and it's more than just a slight vibration. You can hear it in the back seat as well as from the driver's seat. I'm just hoping that someone on this site has an answer for it. I've never owned a car where a seat made this kind of noise. It seems to be coming from inside the seat back. Perhaps it's related to all of the stuff inside related to the ventilation system.

Have you considered taking in to a dealer? Even if the car is out of warranty it might be something they've seen and fixed before.

Well, you got me to look at my passenger seat now while I'm driving. Mine does vibrate at highway speeds, but doesn't make any noises. I'd take it in to the shop to have it evaluated.

I've taken it to the dealer several times. The first time was when the car was only a few months old. They told me they tightened everything that could be tightened on the seat. That took care of it..... for about 3 years. It came back with a vengeance. I've had it back twice in the past year. But, it won't go away. Thanks for all your responses.

yes...I have a 2010 and had same situation happen about 6 months of ownership. Would here rattle near front pass seat. Took it in and they made fix...said it was bolts from seat belt that were loose. Not sure if thats your issue but sounds very similiar being I also only heard noise when seat was empty..which would cause belt to be not fastened of course. Worth alook good luck. BTW I've had no reoccurances with issue.

Thanks JRey. I'll take a look at those bolts for the seat belt.

My passenger seat has a slight noise to it, but I could never nail down where to. I'll have to look tomorrow at the seat belt mount point... should be simple.

PM nevernu and im sure he'll be able to give you some information on the seat removal and surrounding panels if you can track down where its coming from.

It is not the seat - the rattle is from the chrome belt latch hitting the hard plastic of the seat frame between the seat and the door.
Well, that was the problem in my case of passenger seat rattle, anyway.
