Default it HOT AS HELL IN THE SUN BELT. tip: leave ur window a crack open after shutting off

i did not know this.. when u stop your ES350. u have a minute or some time. to lower all the windows a crack open. u dont need the engine or dashboard on.. NICE THINKING.. I always drive into a parking lot. and switch off engine. then take my time to think if I need to leave a crack open depending on weather/rain forecast.. but if u open a door, u loose that ability..

how many folks knew this..!/ I confess i was ignorant. for a year..

This feature is pretty typical in cars of the last 5 years or so.

I noticed just the other day that the new Camaro lowers the windows just a slight amount each time you exit with the car off and then returns them to closed when you re-enter. A good idea and I don't know of any other car that does this. I assume the feature can be disabled for those living in LA.

Good advice I'm in GA, and we've had 90's -100's for over a month. I always leave a small gap these days, obsidian/black can really hold the heat!!

That feature was standard on all 2005 and up Mustangs too. Not too many cars now days have frameless windows - this allows a good tight (quiet?) seal.

The first car I ever saw that had it was when the BMW 850i came out in 1989. I opened the door on the showroom floor and was caught off guard by it.

The Camaro window only went down a little bit. Probably not enough to be a problem with rain getting into the car. And I do assume it can be turned off. I see others have posted that this feature is not as new or unique as I first thought. And I believe a lot of modern cars (actually for many years) including the Lexus do vent inside air through a kind of pressure relief system so maybe the Camaro system is not so great - but it sure did look cool at the car wash.

The Mustang (and 850i from way back) works like this - as you grab the door handle to open the door, the window drops about 1/2". When you close the door, it jumps back up to make a tight seal.

You don't really notice the window go down, but after you close the door (assuming windows were in full up position to start) - they pop up about a half second later.

I can only assume the Camaro works the same.
