Default Need advice on 2010 ES350

Hi all,

I just got a new 2010 ES350 a couple hours ago from a dealer at Los Angeles, CA. When delivery, I noticed that the dealer name on MSRP windows sticker is from Arizona. Is it made any different on the car? Thanks

No worries. Dealers often scramble inventories to compensate each other's inventory.
I have a 2010 ES from a local dealer where the sticker said another dealer's name (still local but about 70 miles away).
Enjoy the car. Excellent choice. Mine has about 12000 miles now, still has the new car smell and enjoying every bit of it.

If you don't mind, who was the dealer and what kind of deal were you able to get? I'm sure he would appreciate a plug? I just got back from the Orange County Auto Show and will probably be looking for a 2010 ES350.

I take off the dealer name from the back of my cars. Distracts from the design of the car.

My 2010 had the same thing. The dealer lested on the sticker is 10-15 minutes from me, but I bought the car at other dealership 40-45 minutes away. As mentioned before the dealerships swap/move inventory regularly.

Typical dealer x-change deal where they look in the US inventory for the color and options that you want and then x-change one of their cars with the dealer that has your match. No harm no foul and everyone gets what they want.

The dealers have shuttlers they call on to exchange inventory in a tri-state area. Usually retired folks that can work on a days notice. Last one I heard of was to drive a Silverado pickup from Wilkes Barre, PA to a Long Island dealer, exchanging for a Tahoe. Both brand new vehicles.

Thanks for your all fast reply.

I am a first time Lexus owner so I have more concern:
Just read manual, it mentions "vehicle equipped with California Certified Emission Control System". How can I find out my car have it? (I live in California, car from Arizona dealer)

Is there any FAQ for first time owner?
How can I find my car is a true brand new car? Not demo (Besides ask the salesman)

Dealer exchanges are common and at least half of my cars have arrived that way but I don't think Lexus dealers allow the cars to be driven more than a short distance not from state to state - haulers deliver them instead. And if the car is in the selling dealers area or whatever it is called there is no exchange just a transfer. I understand your concern about California Emission requirements but I'm quite sure that all Lexus shipped to the western ports are equipped for California because when they are built and shipped they really haven't been allocated yet. It may even be that all new Lexus are built to California requirements. I wouldn't be concerned because if it was an issue the dealer would not be allowed to sell the car or register the car. There used to be an extra charge for "California Cars" but that was probably just taking advantage of California buyers.

Enjoy the new car - the 2010 ES is a great car.

1. All Lexus vehicles are certified ULEV II and are 50 state certified. Your dealer could not have sold you a car that was not certified for sale in the state in which it was sold.

2. If your new ES had less than 20 miles showing on the odometer when driven off the lot, chances are it was a new vehicle, if more, could go either way. But, I believe a reputable dealer would not try to palm off a demo as a new car, even though it's legal under the law.

Your explain and advice are very helpful.

I did not buy a new car for a long time. Every new car I bought before always had selling dealer name on MSRP sticker and California Emission extra charge. I do not see similar items on this new car that why I was concerned.

I found this forum from another car forum and I think it is one of the best Lexus car forum (Informative, fast, easy to use). Thanks
