Default Aftermarket sound system possible?

I called one of the better audio shops here in town and asked about an aftermarket sound system in a 2010 ES 350 ( I don't even own one yet). I want everything to look stock so I will be keeping the stock "head unit". I just want to upgrade everything after that point - plus I want to control everything through the nav screen.

They told me that there is no way to upgrade the system because of the digital signals used. Is this true??? I will be disappointed if it is true.

They arent a very good audio shop then. While it was a pain in the *** and huge hassle to install sound in my 06 LX 470(took 6hrs) twice as long as normal cars, all u have to do is get a LOC line output converter take the signal from one of the speakers and install the rest noramlly. thats just for a sub though. If you want after market speakers and components then you would have to get something similar to JL's CleanSweep or that itself to override the factory amp. And everything is still controlled from the Nav

I used an Audio Control Piece called an LC6i, it works great for an aftermarket sound with factory head unit. You can check it out on Audiocontrol.com

I agree with LX that they don't know what they are talking about. The signal out of the headunit to the speakers is analogue, not digital (no new technology here!). That speaker level signal can be feed into an amp through the methods described above. It's not that difficult, even I have have done it myself on my '07.

I'd take LX's advice and call a different shop that knows what they are talking about.
