Default Zinc plated or Not for Rotors

Hi All,

I wanted to ask if there is a big differences for Zinc-plated rotors and Non.
I am trying to decided if I should get slotted/drill rotors zinc or non.

I keep reading two different feedback.
Some say Zinc-plated prevents the rotors from rusting while other say it doesn't matter because rotors will eventually rust if exposed to moisture over time.

Some say Zinc-plated rotors can cause squealing.
Anyone experience Zinc-plated rotors? Are they worth the extra $$$?
Is our oem rotors zinc-plated also?

Thanks in advance.

Did my fronts with OEM Lexus / Toyota rotors. No noise / no problems after 5,600 miles.

Zinc plated or zinc alloy?

If zinc plated the brakes will wear the plating right off on the first stop?

If zinc alloy will the percentage be enough to work without compromising the brakes?

Zinc plating will keep the hubs from rusting so they will keep their appearance for a fairly long time. The pad area will be worn off but they usually stay clean . So if you want to look through your wheels and see clean rotor hubs then go for the plating. Also nice touch to do the calipers too.

Sorry I had a shop do it.
It is the second day and the brakes feels very good and solid.
No noise at all...we will see how it goes in a week or two.

Update - the rear squeal very low at the rear. Hoping it is because of the cold weather.

Will give another update soon.
Other than that, the brakes and rotors are alot better.

No need to revive a 12-year old thread if not making a meaningful contribution to it. Plated rotors does help by slowing down rust.
