Gas tank empty, range is zero, 17.8 fill up
Title says it all. Gas tank was on empty, estimated range was reading 0, and I had still been driving 1/2 mile or so after 0. Filled up to the brim with 17.8 gallons. And yes, I do know it is not good to overfill the tank. How much gas was left in the tank, anyone gone lower than this, or filled more?

That's a new record. Back in the 80s, I did that once to save $.20 / gallon. Took within 1 gallon of gas to the fuel tank capacity. I realized a tow would have cost a lot more than the almost $5.00 I saved in savings. Never did it again.

As you well may know the tank holds 18 gal.. You can go at least 10 - 20 mi further ( preferrably open hwy ) when it reaches -0- . The most I put in was around 17.6 on trip to Chicago this summer and it was reading -0- before I put gas....so I guess i had about 1/2 gal left. Have done this couple of times and its about same or another to judge is it says 10 miles left but then you pull over to refill and it only allows you to put 16.5 -- 17 gals...OF course these are not good habits to get into, I only push it when I'm traveling long distance.
