Default Lost Keyless Remote - Need Replacement

I lost one of my keyless remote FOBs and need a replacement. Any recommendations? Websites? Dealers?

Actually I have one I would sell you for $50 but I think you would find it much less agravating to get one from your dealer or if he is not reasonable contact Sewell Lexus in Dallas. The keyfobs you buy off of ebay, like mine have, already been programmed and some / most dealers don't want to deal with them.

I understand the important thing is to get it replaced before you lose the second one - then you have a real costly problem.

I think you'll have to cough up the $$ for a new one and then have it programmed.

The amount of money you'll save on a used one is offset by the extra amount dealers will charge to program a used one vs. a new one - assuming they'll even bother with it.

My dealer seemed apprehensive to re-program a used one and basically said it was a real hassle. I got my used one cheap but it was in such nice condition I just used the shell from it to replace mine which was beat-up pretty good from the previous owner.

What also sucks is that the fob and key insert are separately sold. So get ready to unload some coin.

Try calling your local locksmith and ask if they can reprogram a Lexus/Toyota smart key. I had 2 used remotes that I bought off of ebay programmed by a locksmith.

Took the used fobs to the dealer and an independent. Both allegedly tried and both said that it couldn't be done and I had to buy new fobs. Logically, all they had to do is to erase the old program and program all with the new.

It took the locksmith only 17 minutes to complete. During the time we were in the car he let me look through the instruction manual. It was for both Lexus and Toyota smart keys. There were two programming procedures. One to add a brand new fob and the second to reprogram when you lost all the remotes. He did the latter. Now, I have 3 working fobs.

Either the dealer is lazy or the techs cannot figure out that they need to erase the entire program and start fresh.

Since it happen to me also, word of advice, remove the key from the fob and keep it at home (most of the time, you will not need it, plus, if you loose the fob, at least you have the key) AND keep a space set of battery in you wallet and you're set.

Who and where. I just lost my wifes RX330 key, and my IS-F fob and key. Not looking forward to forking over a bunch of cash if I can avoid it, and seems like your guy may be able to help me with that.

If you have a 2009, check the number INSIDE the FOB on the green chip board. It's different from 07-08.

I know this is a few years old
but just saw this post
i have been told 2 things
one person told me if you loose the your only remote then you have to have the computer and egnition system fully recet
and thats really labor intense the same process as if you have had 5 remotes already maxed out and loose them they also have to do this full reset .

Another dealer told me that if you loose all your remote you have to have the computer replaced and thats like 3000 dollars

out of curiosity which one of these statements are true ?

damn... i called up MY PARK PLACE DALLAS FORT WORTH DEALER FOR new fob without blade. .they are quoting me.. 310$... . damn them- last time I paid only 225.-as mentioned above.. what a scam to raise prices by 100 bucks...
btw. i asked grapvine if they will programme an outside fob for 50$.. THEY SAID NO... .. so getting an outside FOB for 130 on ebay and using it is out of question. - let me try with another DEALER in DALLAS AREA.

Default LEXUS ES350 -Smart Keyless Remote

Not sure Lexus owners that need the second set of Lexus smart keyless remote but I just got one for myself recently. It works perfectly.
It cost $150 for the cost of key cut and programming. I provide the used key that I bought on Ebay. If you buy from the locksmith, it will cost $225 (cut key & programming)
I don't know why he asked me to bring my car to his workshop but it took only 20 minutes to complete. Again, it works like the original. Let me know if you need help.
