Some customers may experience a buzz or slight rattle noise from the rear portion of the headliner when the vehicle hits small sharp bumps. It has been determined that the source of such a rattle may be the Tire Pressure Warning System (TPWS) antenna located above the headliner between the rear of the sliding roof opening and the top of
the back glass.

Well, after a few months of frustration hearing a buzzing in the back seats, i notice this bulletin on the 07 ES and i've tested on my 08 car and it is the same, simply tapping on the roof liner or pulling it and releasing it makes a buzzing sound. Even when i tap on the glass roof, the buzzing sound is resonating. Would the dealer rectify this issue if my car is a 08 ? I'm still under warranty.

If you can reproduce the problem to the service advisor or the shop manager then they will fix it. I had a similar noise as yours but it wasn't the antenna. They charge about 8 hrs of labor to warranty work.

very good to know. According to the bulletin, it is more the tire pressure computer that is not well screwed.

UPDATE: i went to the dealership for a roadtest and the mechanic decided to pull the headliner down and remove the headliner courtesy lights out to see what the buzzing noise could originate.

Nothing suspect, all screws and attachments are secure. The only possible reason could be the courtesy headliner lights is not fully clipped in or the headliner is tapping the tire pressure module located above it. Either way, he decided to add foam strips all over those areas and now no more noise.

Mine ticking noise was from TSB 0090-10 for 2007 Toyota Camry ( a separation of the NVH dampening bonds between the roof sheet metal and the roof reinforcement.), and rear roof seam which require removal of rear windshield. I couldn't find any information of the rear roof seam mentioned.

I did some work today on the headliner area that was fixed by the dealer since i was there watching the work. I like thing sturdy so i pull the headliner out to add some insulation in it, now it is reinforced and no amount of road bumps can make that area buzzing again.

You don't need to do what i did, like i said, i like to make any of my cars sound sturdy by insulating with Wool padded insulation (kind of the pink stuff for home insulation but made for sound proofing). If you need instructions to remove the rear headliner and stuff that area, i can help you. Unfortunately, i didn't take any pictures of the work.

To determine if the buzzing sound is located, simply tap and it will buzz as i proved to the mechanic. I did tap the rear windshield, but mine doesn't buzz.

If you have instructions to pull the headliner I would love it. I purchased a 2007 ES 350 two weeks ago. Some bumbs and the Bass from the stereo make the roof vibrate. Thanks!

I'm looking into myself for my 2007 RX350. There is TSB L-TCI-3280 which is for an Upper/Lower Windshield Tick Noise.

Seems there are some clips etc that could be added.

I called Lexus and of course its not under warranty and they would "have to take a look" and see how long it might take and if its even applicable.

I am sure the noise will not be evident when they take it for the $100 Diagnostic test drive.
