Cayman S to Lexus ES
Explain this to the marketing wizards! I owned an 07 Cayman S, great car, traded for 10 ES 350 (white).
My wife's car is an IS F (09), I drive FJ (08), and Cayman was a toy. No great options for travel, friends or for in-laws (love your mother honey). With only 9,000 miles, we decided to get something practical (at 35 something must be beginning to happen to my brain).
I have owned an 02 IS 300 (5speed), 06 IS 350, 08 IS250, 06 GS300 AWD.
(other notables 350 Z, S2000 and G37, TL 04) I have owned the ES for 3 weeks and already have more miles on it than a year worth in the Cayman (2200).
I call it my old fart's car. Truth is, my wife and I love it. No matter what age you are, the car is nice, rides smooth and is very quiet. This car is not about acceleration, handling or braking, it is about doing everything smoothly, and it performs the others reasonably well. We have already seen as high as 31.8 MPG on hwy and we had forgotten what life was like getting more than 300 miles out of a tank (had 400 miles on tank and 1/4 left). Very comfortable, but the brakes have been a bit of an adjustment (not bad, not 4 or 6 pistons). We have the navigation (non ML), leather, HID, etc. We have always been pleased with the quality and service from Lexus.
I always check in on clublexus to read the forums when looking at a new purchase and this was no exception. It’s a great way to learn from other owners about any problems to be aware of and hear other opinions of the car.
Attention Lexus marketing, it was the back seat that had me from hello

We have a '10ES350 and love it. It is a great cruiser.
We also have an '09 Boxster, we love it as well. Kids are basically out of the house and we wanted a toy.
Enjoy the ES.

Funny, no family (planned), no tip from dealer, just nuts.
Actually, we wanted a cruiser. The IS F is now the fun car and don't have to "stuff" our friends in the back. The F will work for a trip car, but the ES is so much better for that. Our FJ is 6 speed (perm 4WD), good for work/fun, but not so much on trips.
My only complaint (if you could call it that), is that headroom is a bit tight on the ES. I'm taller from the waist up, so some of it is me. Good thing the seats are made lower in the F, or my head would touch the top. In the Cayman and the FJ, I could wear a top hat (for the record, I didn't).
Cayman/Boxters are a great cars (and driving experience), the Cayman was my dream car. The ES rides like a dream!
Our Lexus dealer is top notch, funny thing, local Porsche dealer was not (although we did not buy the Cayman there).
Thanks for the comments.

I have another post on this forum about the F.
yesterday I had an opportunity to drive one ont the track at Limerock (along with a Cayman and Carrera). I liked the overall performance of the ISF the best. I did my best lap times in the Carrera, but that engine hanging off the back takes some getting used to. The Cayman had the best balance for handling but the least power.
