2010 ES350 Oil Pan Issue? Or just bad luck
1. In Manhattan last week I went from a paved side street onto an unpaved/under repair street and the slight dip up or down at about 15 mph apparently ripped my oil pan (900 miles on the car; $750 to replace at Lexus).
2. In Staten Island last month a friend (also with a 2010 ES 350) went from a paved street to one under repair and did considerable damage to the underside of her car (ripped out the oil pan and more).
Is this our bad luck and an unlikely coincidence or could there be something up with the design or installation of the oil pan?
(For those who remember me, I am the one who my Lexus dealer said I have a 'cursed transaction'.)

Lexus Roadside Assist was useless. I waited an hour in 90 degree heat on a service road until AAA (who Lexus Assist electronically dispatched 25 minutes after my call) called to say that they had only one flat bed tow truck available on Sunday and he was on another call. When I called Lexus Assist back they said they would contact an independent contractor but I would have to pay for the tow. They also told me that they wouldn't tow my car unless I was there - but couldn't tell me how long it would take.
On Monday my dealer (owing me, see above) towed the car without me being there.
By the way - if this was a cursed transaction the curse is hereby over.

I haven't heard of any under carriage problems with the current generation ES350 which has been on the market for 4 years (or the Camry either).
Sounds like just bad luck, or the curse is still in effect.

Two years ago, a guy in Wilkes Barre, PA had problems with his new Ford van. Tried numerous times to get it fixed right under warranty. Then one day, he drove up, took his dealership salesman for a ride to show him what was wrong. Took him on a 90+ mph ride on the local road and started threatening him. The salesman jumped out of the car and did a roll when the driver turned around in a lot. He drove back to the dealership, got out and spread gasoline on the inside of the van and lit it on fire right in front of the showroom.
Watched it burn, was arrested right there. The salesman never returned to work there.
That's they way one person got out out from under the cursed transaction.

Yea, but I'll bet he takes warranty claims a lot more serious now. They now get fixed on the first try. I guess the guy who purchased the van failed to understand what Ford meant. Fix or Repair Daily.
