Wood on Steering Wheel Does Not Exactly Match Other Wood Trim
Anyone know why the wood on steering wheel does not exactly match other wood trim in the 2010 ES 350? I have the darker wood. Is this normal or is there an issue?
Thank you.
Thank you.

Mine is the same way. I did mention it to the dealer buy they really acted like they just counld not do anything. They would have had to order a new wheel and hope it matched. 6 months later, I could care less. But mine is not that far off either.

Okay, so I took a look other Lexus cars in my and near by parking lots. It seems as though the majority of the wheels do not perfectly match the color of the other trim. I only saw the lighter, orange colored wood, though. Either the darker wood is new or just not as common. My dealership said, all of the wood in a car is cut from the same tree and that the issue could be looking at a flat surface versus a round one. They also attributed it to the staining process.

The 09's and down have the orange wood and it usually all matches perfectly. The 2010's have a new darker richer color and the steering wheel can be a little off. I don't believe the "cut from the same tree" bull! Yes, the flat veneer pieces on the dash etc. are matched, but not the steering wheel. Two different kind of cuts (veneer vs. solid) and two different trees! The stain and amount of figure in the wood is different. But to me it is no big deal 6 months down the road.
