Default Are carpeted mats part of recall?

I know that the recall called for gas pedal shaving and replacement of the rubber mats (just the two front), but what about the carpeted mats? Is there an updated version of the carpeted drivers mat (like they did with the rubber mat)? If so, should the dealer trade out the mats like they did with the rubber mats?

Thanks in advance!

I don't think the carpeted mats have changed. When I took mine in, I told them I put the carpeted mats in the trunk if they needed them. I got them back as is. I believe they want to look at them and make sure you have ES carpeted mats and not some from another model.

The all-weather floor mats are part of the recall since 2007, but not the carpeted ones. The only time the carpeted ones were affected directly was in early November 2009, when as an interim measure, owners were told to remove all driver's side floor mats until a final remedy was determined. That remedy was announced November 25, and is here:

http://pressroom.toyota.com/pr/tms/l...spx?ncid=12056

Basically the all-weather mats will be replaced, among other measures (shave pedal). For the regular carpeted mats, those are fine and should be left in place. Apparently the shaved pedal will have such clearance for the thicker all-weather mats, that the regular mat is fine without any replacement.

Are they ever going to replace the pedal with a correct sized one or do we have to live with this ugly shaved afterthought?

In the link above it states:

The carpet mats are so cheap and flimsy,I don't think the carpet could hold the accelerator down.

Well, I tested my 2010 ES myself by putting the carpeted mats over the gas pedal, then pressing down on the carpet/pedal. The factory carpeted mats did hold the gas pedal down firmly during this test on my car.

If you go to this thread https://www.clublexus.com/forums/es3...shaving-2.html and post #25. I posted the recall campaign bulletin for the ES cars. Carpeted mats are not part of the recall, but the front all weather ones are.
