Auto-Dimming Side Mirrors
Folks,
Do we have auto-dimming sideview mirrors on the 2007 ES350? I can't tell if they are auto-dimming or not. If not, are these available on later models? Could you swap them out?

Right. That's what I was going to say. The rearview is defiantly auto-dimming, but the sides seem not to be. I have to tell you, maybe it's when you get older, but bright light sin the side view mirrors are really painful....
Anyways, I wonder if you could swap these? They are heated so the power is there.......

Yes..are you talking about the puddle lamps???....because 'auto-dimming' is an electronic dimming feature that blocks 'glare' from the exterior side view mirrors...which is standard on many low end cars.....The puddle lamps come on as you approach the car and are located 'under' the exterior side view mirrors. They serve to light the ground around the door...

Looks like it is an option. If you have auto-tilt-down on side mirrors, you have auto-dim too.
My 2007 ES350 does have it.
Scroll down about half-way on the page in the link.

Hmm...my side mirrors do tilt down when the car is in reverse and I got the base model. I'll have to check to see if they dim too.

It's part of any package from Premium to Ultra:

I second that. Mine definitely tilt down, but they do not appear to turn "dimmer and green" as the rearview does when traffic is right behind me. Are there sensors on the sideviews, or is the rearview sensor employed?
I'm gonna play dumb and ask the dealer to check my dimming sideviews next time I take it in....

No Dimming Side Mirrors
I had my car serviced this past weekend and they checked for the dimming side mirrors. I do NOT have them. So, it is possible, folks, to have tilting mirrors that do not dim.
Question: could i just swap out the mirror element? Could it be that easy? Where does the "dimming sensor" reside for the side mirrors?
Check this out.....
