I'm at 32000 on mine and they look like they still have another 10-15 in them.

Same here. I should easily get around 40k with mine.

When my car was in for the 3 yr/36k service they said there were a lot of miles left on both the tires and brakes.

I wanted to ask what is a good tire size for a 07 es350 with stock 17 rims.

225/55-17 or 235/55-17...I am still deciding if I should get stock tires replacements or a aftermarket rims with new tires.

JC07ES350,

You cannot just arbitrarily change the size of the tire from the factory size 215-55-17
There will be a difference in tire diameter which will throw off your speedometer.

If you were inclined to change size, you need to specifically look at the diameter and other specs:

Example
215-55-17 Diameter 26.3" 792 revolutions per mile
225-55-17 Diameter 26.8" 777 revolutions per mile

Also, change in width might be a problem and cause rubbing in the wheel wells especially over bumps.

Good luck, but choose carefully !

According to Discount Tire you can plus size tires on stock wheels to the following: 225/50-17, 225/55-17, or 235/50-17.
All these are not much different from OEM tires (even 235 is less than an inch wider). You may have wider selection of tires to choose from. You are unlikely to gain much in terms of performance or lose ride quality. Most likely you would pay a little more for these non-standard tires.
If you want to pimp your Lexus, get 19-inch chrome wheels and 225/40-19 tires. People would notice and your behind too.
If you just want a good set of tires, buy a set of highly rated Michelins, Bridgestones, or whatever your favorite brand, in standard 215/55-17.

My original tires on my 2007 were Continenetal summer tires and only got 20K out of them. This is about right for this type of tire. Replaced with the Michelin XV4 and got 40K. Am now on my second set of Michelins.

Have 34,000 miles on the car and am on the third set of tires. Will probably need another new set in the Spring / another 4-5,000 miles. Driving about 75% city - suburbs with balance on interstates. The Kumho Solus tires, cheapest yet, still have fair amount of tread on them after 14,000 mile son them, far outlasting the stock Michelin tires.

This is astounding to me that some of you guys aren't getting better miles on your tires. I have the stock Mich and I'm at 34000 and still have plenty of life in them. Amazing to me the differences. I can see a little difference but 3 sets in the same miles seems very odd.

As mentioned earlier, I'll have no problem getting 40k on my original Michelin all season tires. A mix of about 50%/50% suburban-city and highway driving.

I think it is the roads here in Northeast PA - my '07 Impala SS gets about 19,000 - 20,000 miles on tires from Goodyear RSA / BF Goodrich and now Kumho Ecsta LX Platinum are less than 20,000 miles per set. Or maybe it's the way I drive but the Lexus is 90% my wife driving and still gets poor mileage out of the tires.

Your roads must be better, or we have somewhat different driving styles.

our roads in Texas are extremely good for the most part. Not much snow and ice to destroy them.

Replaced the OEM Michelin S8s on 07 ES with Michelin Primacy and immediately wanted the S8s back. Could feel every bump in Ohio roads and felt like I was losing control on winding country roads. Waiting for new S8s on nation-wide backorder and gladly will accept the low milage rating.

Interesting! Most folks here are giving very good reports on the Primacy, which is why I was considering them next. Have 30.8K on my Energies and they don't have much left.
