Moulding Loose Under Passenger Door - Fix?
The strip of moulding under the passenger side door has partly come off - the end is "flapping" - on my 07 ES. No damage to the actual moulding (same color as car) but the clips have broken off. The Lexus body guy says that its becomming common due to low profile and perhaps hitting curbs. The whole moulding part needs to be replaced - part alone costs $100 - because you can't just get the clips from Lexus. He suggested trying gorilla glue (carefully) and see if that works. Any thoughts?

I had the same problem last week. Took it to my dealer. He didn't have the clips either, but "Robbed Peter to Pay Paul" and fixed it for me for free. Guess that means they took them off of another car. Good dealers go a long way.

Clips are available for about $18. My wife swiped a curb while turning right and the molding was scratched / loose. My Ford body shop took about 15 minutes to fix for the price of the clips only.

here are two possible parts for the clips
http://www.dormanproducts.com/p-5699-700-846.aspx
or
http://www.dormanproducts.com/p-21993-45815.aspx
the first one seems more likely as it has that black soft spacer that is also on the original clips
but the GM one should work too if you cant find the toyota one
these should go for less than $5 a bag and is an easy enough of a DIY to fix it yourself and save some money
napa parts or autozone should have these

just for reference for your children and your children's children
the Toyota/Lexus OEM retainer clips part number is: 62955-12010
they go for $1.90 each at my local toyota dealership
for the front doors, you need 7 on each door
for the rear doors, you need 4 on each door
there are total of 22 clips for all 4 doors holding the trim piece on
the ends of the front door trim have this plastic plate that the clips go into. it broke off the trim on my friend's car so i just used automotive tape to tape it back on
gorilla glue wouldve probably be a better and more permanent solution

Thanks for the part # etc UberNoob. Here is what they look like. The clips just slide into the trim notches, unfortunately the notches are not all opening in the same direction. The left end notch is open one way the next two left notches are open the other , the 3 right notches are reversed, and the right end notch reverses again. So to minimize the clips required I removed the 2 end clips and the two left clips. I replaced the double sided tape on each end on the the trim piece, I inserted the 4 new clips manually in the trim piece , and slipped the trim piece into the 3 right hand clips still attached to the car. Then once they were in I popped the new clips into the car from right to left. Oh yeah to remove the rim piece initially just lift up and out. Oh and the white clips dont just pop out with a trim remover, a pair of vice grips may get them off the car and broken.
