Default I might be crazy, but I am looking for an SC400

Hi Guys, Haven't been here for a while.

I am looking for a pristine 1998-200 SC400. So, if you have one you want to sell, please PM me.

That said, I am curious to know if I am off my rocker. I have owned 6 SC's in the past. The last one was a 2000 SC300 that was just perfect, but was T-boned by some dope who was texting.

Anyway, I have a 2011 Lexus ES350 now which is a wonderful car but I keep thinking I need to be driving an SC.

What do you think? Should I move on or g back?

Thanks

BL

I'd say go for it. If you gotta have the latest infotainment screen with bluetooth, ipod connectivity, etc its very easy to fit a double din touch screen in these cars. The stock radio space makes it a perfect fit, it looks like it belongs there and you don't have to hack up the dash. You do that upgrade, it has all the latest tech that any new car has. IMO they're better cars than a new RC350, those things are way overstyled and ugly IMO.

I drove one and liked the car a lot. I didn'tT like the way it looks and no matter how hard I try, still don't.

Good idea, though, thanks.

I have maintained contact with the previous owner of my SC. He purchased a new IS and he tells me he wish he had kept the SC...

I always look for the best bang for the buck car..Hence why I have owned over 20 NSX's.. The SC is a timeless car and lets face it, there is no used car factory...arguably some of the best cars ever produced came out of the 90's..

The Supra, RX7, Twin Turbo 300ZX, NSX, SC's BMW M series, etc,..Newer doesn't always equate to better..

To me, the SC is one of the finest coupes ever built...Considering the 98-00 SC's sold for upwards of $60k and now you can find one in excellent condition for under $10K.. How can you go wrong?

Buy one! you have nothing to loose and every thing to gain,,

I thought I'd just poke my head in after hearing someone talk about 90's cars.

I think I can contribute since I went from an ES -> IS -> 300zx TT.

Almost all of the times I read a post like I find that the OP has already made the decision to go with whichever car/mod hes posting about. They're just looking for someone else to agree with their decision to push them to do whatever they already pretty much decided to do in the first place.

That being said, its all about tastes and preferences at the moment. I originally bought the ES because I loved the room and the soft ride. Eventually realized that the room didn't matter unless i was driving around 3 6'5" 300 pound friends and the soft ride made me feel too disconnected to the road. Also the ES is a terrible platform to modify.

Moved on to an IS which is a lot less roomy and much more sporty. Basically the inverse of the ES with a lot larger aftermarket. Eventually ran into a brick wall @ engine mods.

Saw a killer deal on a well kept 300zx twin turbo which sat in someones garage for 20 years being driven 20,000 miles and snatched it up. No back seats, hard as hell to get into/out of/nightmare to work on/throwing tons of money at maintenance but its great fun to drive. None of those aforementioned "cons" matters because I work on all my cars, am young and in good health, and have no kids so no need for back seats. Pretty much done with restoration and it'll be a monster in the next year or so after getting the engine/trans built. Plus if I ever get pulled over a cop wont be able to see anything out of the norm because the engine bay is very cluttered and the turbos and hidden . Good ol' C.A.R.B.

Fact of the matter is that I can live with the decision and that's pretty much all that matters. Our opinions don't matter because at the end of the day we arn't the ones driving/paying for the car.

You better believe that if I was 70 with back/knee problems and had an aversion to cars with stiff suspension and loud exhausts I would not have made the same decisions. Luckily I am not.
