Default Dealer fabric protection worth getting?

When I recently visited my Lexus dealership they spoke of a Fabric Protection package (for the carpets). Forgot the price they wanted. Since I am considering getting the Cashmere interior, I wonder if it would be worth it. I know with other makes, its been said to be a scam. Did anyone go with the dealer's fabric protection?

My friend got the fabric protection on his IS from Lexus of Las Vegas(is that where you are thinkin of gettin yours?), and it doesn't do anything. Spend it on something else!

Total profit item for dealer and I like to think that many Lexus dealers are above that practice. Less than $10 for a can of Scotchguard and you can do your whole car. There's not that much fabric in the car to protect. The beige is a little tough to maintain but there is nothing the dealer can sell you that will make it any easier.

Enjoy your new car.

Scotchgard doesn't do much. However, my dealer wanted $1000 for the Fabric Guard I believe. Laughably insane.

Just ask some detailing stores how much they charge. I'm beginning that process now.

Just throw the mats in the washer once in a while.....that's how the detailing places do it too.

The reason why it is so much money is because you are not buying the application, you are buying the warranty that comes with it.

I agree, it is a waste of money.

Everything your finance guy offers you is worthless! Just say no. They will resist, so you must say NO!. After this, when they offer a discount, say NO! On my last Lexus purchase, the finance manager just checked "no" on all options. They do learn.

Just say NO!

Steve

Did I mention that you should say NO?

Well, not everything. If you are burried in your trade and need to roll negative equity into your new loan, a GAP policy for $300 pay be worth it. So, if the car is totalled or stolen, the GAP insurance pays the difference between what insurance pays (ACV (actual cash value)) and what you owe. This could be thousands, depending on how much you rolled in. But, if you did not roll negative equity, pass on GAP.

Then, there is the extended warranty. If you want it, keep your car along time, and they are offering it to you around their cost, it may be something to consider.

The rest of the products, I agree....pass.
