Touch screen protection
Anyone used a protective film (like those for the PDAs) for the touch screen?
I am planing to put one on, but not sure if it will permanently fused to the screen surface under the heat and sun causing damage to the touch screen.

I clean mine with eye glass cleaner and a cloth used to clean eye glasses with and have had no issues in 1 year.

Not so sure on the material in the ES, but my TL has a thick and highly scratch resistant coating on the touchscreen already... I would imagine the ES to be very similar.
The problems I have with the touchscreen are the fingerprints, they all form in the same spots, where the buttons are placed... Like the OK button. Instead I use the joystick and real buttons for daily stuff, like selecting OK, but after some programming it needs to be cleaned. Go to the auto store and get a couple small loop micro-fiber towels, the really soft ones... Dedicate these to only being used on the touchscreen, use the recommended cleaning agents and you should be good to go without needing to apply screen protection... Remember PDAs are poked at with a stylus more than your soft fingers.
edit: I'm really **** about scratches and stuff, never thought of adding material to the TL screen, my ipod on the other hand is nearly waterproof.

So far my last two ES's had touch screens and they seem very durable. As said before the only thing is fingerprints that are removed very easily with a non-ammonia type glass cleaner. I would never consider using a protective film.

I think you would be OK to use a protective cover, the Writeright from Fellowes is available at Best Buy. I use them for the LCD's on digital cameras and they work very well. However, I am on my 3rd Lexus w/ NAV screens and have never scratched one yet, but I am also very gentle, no young children or pets get near it.
