ES350 Break-In Rule?
Hi folks,
After pushing hard, we were able to get the ES350 yesterday night! (Thanks much for all the input in the previous thread, BTW)
Just a quick question, now..
Is there any guideline on how to break in ES350? Such as 3000 or less RPM for first 2000 miles or anything like that?
I quickly skimmed through the manual, but it didn't seem to specify anything.
One more side question.. does this forum have search field? I was trying to search for it, but couldn't find the search area.
This ES350 was for my parents, and this car is really awesome! Very quite and smooth ride! (even more so compared to my FX35 SUV)

Drive it like you stole it!
Kidding ofcourse. But I do have a couple boat club buddies who live by that credo. They pay dearly for it too.
Just use some common sense like letting it warm up before pushing it and vary the rpms. And yeah, don't firewall it until it gets a few miles on it....as tempting as it might be...cause the first time you do...it will surprise you.
OH, this is your parents car! Nevermind....

My personal feeling is to:
Do not floor board it for the first 500 miles
Don't use the cruise control for the first 500 miles (don't drive at the same speed for a long period of time)
Drive some city and some highway during the first 500 miles
Then, let 'er go!!

When breaking in any newly built engine I always like to vary the rmp's the engine is running. Increasing and decreasing the engine load flexes the rings and allows for better seating. I also never max out the rpm's during the first 500 miles of operation. It is also a good practice to change the oil filter after the first 500 miles.
