Wiper Blades
Hello Folks,
About two weeks ago, it snowed pretty heavy and during the process, the wiper blades seems to have a new distorted starting place. It doesn't fully retract to the crevice of where they used to be. it starts out/rests at a higher angle.
Has anyone ever encountered that or does anyone know how to fix it?
Thanks,

Yes. This isn't a defect but is normal operation. The wipers have two rest settings. The default is low down into the cowl and the second is a higher snow setting. This higher setting is also how you open the arms to change the blades.
To switch back and forth you simply push or pull the arms in the direction you want to go. It's scary and it feels like you're going to break the wipers, but that's how you snap them into the higher or lower position.

One other reason to know this is that trying to lift up the wiper blade from the fully reclined postion will cause it to hit against the inward edge of the hood and possibly chip the paint or clearcoat. I adjust my blades to the upper position when I go to a location that's likely to have some knuckleheads around trying to put a flyer under my wipers. It's then a quick adjustment to return them to the lowered position once I return to the car. (Also helpful when washing the car to allow full access under the blades)
