age and previous vehicle

I'm 35. I previously had 1998 Honda Accord ex v6. I have enjoyed the es except for the slipping transmissions on both the original transmission (9/06 build date) and the replacement transmission (2/07).
I'm taking advantage of the buyback which was promised before the replacement transmission was installed way back in 12/06. I was originally going to take a replacement es until Lexus Corp told me that the "flaring" transmission was a standard characteristic of the es and that my next es would have the same issue.
So instead of taking another chance with the es and being stuck with a slipping transmission, I opted for a refund and will return my es back to Lexus Corp. I'm driving my es until my ls460 arrives at the dealership in another week or so.
It's been a great ride!

I'm 32. Had ES350 last year for a little over 4 month, and after two failed trannies moved into GS350 (fits me so much better ) after ES buyback. This is also my first Lexus and the first new car I paid cash for. Before ES/GS I had '98 Altima SE, and previous to that - Camry LE. We are mostly Toyota/Lexus family, with my wife owning '95 Corolla before and later I bought her '05 Highlander (a present before our daughter was born ).

One of Toyota's objectives with the new ES350 and Avalon was to lower the average age of the buyers. I wonder if there is a source where you can find out the overall average age of ES350 buyers? An online forum like this might draw more younger owners than the overall ownership age???

Hi, I'm 50 (even though I don't believe it)
1973 - 1977 '69 Dodge Dart Swinger 225 slant 6 ($950.00)
1977 - 1992 '73 Mercedes Benz 280 sedan ($8,400.00)
1992 - 2000 '79 Mercedes Benz 6.9 sedan ($10,875 plus $8,250 in mods)
2000 - 2006 '97 Nissan Maxima GLE ($17,000)
2006 - Present '07 Lexus ES350 ($41,000 plus T/L)
I keep a car about 8 years so I'll be 58 in 2014. This may be my last gasoline powered car (interesting thought).
My grandfather had the best car though. It was a pristine 1956 Cadillac Sedan DeVille in Ivory. I don't think it had air but it had almost everything else (even the twilight sentinel to automatically activate the headlights or did it dim the high-beams?). I was about 16 and I recall changing the tubes in the radio. The interior cloth was still intact and the thing had never been hit. He waxed it twice a year and the thing always looked "wet". They used better paint back then (or I just could not tell). I wanted that car so bad but someone else got it first.

I guess the age of folks buying these cars also depends on where their priorities lie. My friends drive 3 series, IS350's, G35s , and RX-8's - yet I end up getting an ES, albeit I'm 23. I just like to be pampered and appreciate feeling comfy on my way - I figure I get enough stress on my body working out at the gym everyday that my car shouldn't do the same to me too.

Cool thread!
I just turned 49 last weekend. My previous car was a completely trouble free '98 ES300. Wish I had not sold it now. (New owner loves it!) Not because I don't like my 350, but because I have decided to buy a new boat and could use that money now! However, I will not...ever....buy another first gen car.
I do love my new ES though!
P.S. it's interesting how many folks here had Accords. That's what I owned before the 300.

Are you sure its not because your parents decided to give you a *safer* car for your graduation so they would have a piece of mind you driving ES instead of IS/GS? (I'm assuming this was a graduation present from your parents). We had this conversation last year in the forum where someone else got ES350 as a present instead of IS350 because his parents were afraid he will be doing racing with the rest of his friends

Negative... because the Acura RSX was a graduation present aswell (high school graduation) but I actually wanted both my parents to have enough leg room in the back and seated comfortably. I didn't even test drove the IS the moment my mom had to "squeeze" into the backseat. However, she did urge me to get the RX instead, saying that i would need an SUV to get to work on snowy days.. but i am not a big fan of SUVs (granted both my parents drive SUVs.... )

1992-98. It was my dad's car, but I was the main driver. So the ES350 is actually the first car that I own.
I'm 32 by the way.

I Am Turnning 25 In Less Than 30 Days. Traded In A 2004 Acura Tsx For Es350. That Is A Completely Different Driving Experience As In The Es When I Did The Test Drive A While Ago. My New Ride Is Arriving Someday This Week And I Just Can't Wait To Drive It Home.

From the J.D. Power web site. Some interesting information on the age of ES 350 buyers. Scroll to the bottom of the page to "Buyer Demographics".
