Steering column Rattle
There's a rattle in my steering column that's intermittent. I thought I fixed it, but I didn't. It happens on smooth roads, rough roads, turns, whenever. One interesting thing is that it happens even if I just turn the power on without actually turning the engine on. Sometimes it happens as the steering wheel telescopes, and sometimes it doesn't.

Does it sounds like an actual rattle or more like a weird "mechanical" motor-gear grinding/scratching? I experienced that with an IS loaner and a few ES loaners of an early April '06 build. From what I have seen here in ES forum, its not a common problem, and you should definitely let your dealer take a look at it. Since its intermittent, take the car for a ride with one of the service advisor so they can hear it. In a worst case, video taping it always does the trick too!
