How do I start a buyback?

I was told that only a dealer can initiate a buyback, and it doesn't necessarily have to be the dealer you bought it from.
I've already called corporate, and they can't deal with me directly regarding this issue.
for you guys who've gone through this, did the service dept handle it, or the sales dept?

Here's a thought: It is still early in CA, make some more phone calls and find out directly from your dealer what they have to say about this process.
In my experiences what you were told is not accurate, I even had two letters overnighted to me from Lexus detailing when and where my car would be looked at, the dealer did not handle this part at all for me. And prior to overnight letters, phone contact, all generated as a result of me calling the 800 number.
