Default Finally saw the 07 ES350

While I was at the dealer, I saw a car in the showroom, when I went to get a closer look, I first saw the 350 and thought WOW, this is the new GS350. Imagine my suprise when i realized it was the ES350.

Is it just me, I feel a little disappointed. It is basically the same way I felt when Nissan released the Altima with more horsepower than the Maxima. I did not like the old body still of the ES, but now it is damn near the same car!!!

Maybe it's just you.

The new Lexus cars will have a similar look and feel to them as they push L-Finesse. Still, there is no mistaking the ES and the GS (and the IS and LS), all L-Finesse cars.

Agreed. But it's really funny. Even one of the service guys at my dealership said "Is this your GS?" when he came up to help me on some warranty service. I said, "No this is a ES 350" and he did a double take. Seriously.

Well what did you expect, Lexus is advertising the New ES as 'Everything is new but the philosophy." It is supposed to feel new, but the same ES spirit, features, etc. as before.

It's a winning combination, why tamper with it?

The ES definitely shows the new Lexus styling along with the GS, but it clearly is not a GS, nor does it drive like one. Trust me, I've gone back and forth between the two. They are very different cars.

The new ES350 is very well designed. The previous ES versions were so vanilla. This is the first ES that makes me take a second glance.

I agree with you except the the 3rd generation ES, which is a more conservative, but nice looking car.

The ES has basically carried it's character thoughout the generations and time. The ES has always been front wheel drive, has always been a V6 sedan and even though it's look has been tweaked a bit and if you compare all the generation there is a resemblence that carries from generation to generation...

The 2007 ES and the 2006 GS are for two different markets. I doubt that someone who is in the market for a luxury sport sedan is going to buy or consider a 2007 ES. I know I would never consider the 2007 ES.

Every time I look at this picture, my eyes go straight to the 2007 GS 450h. The 3GS is a work of art. Can't wait for mine! Three more months!

No doubt about this. I saw one on the road the other day and was
very very impressed. I definitely will want to get one as a loaner to
"try it out"

Personally, I would get an ES if I were practical minded, but I am not
ready to go back to FWD yet.

Side profile is one of the GS's big strengths, but I hate the fact
that they gave the ES a better grill than the GS
