nope, not picky. I just notice fine details like that and it was in two pictures from two different angles.
Didn't know if the badge was anchored at one point.

Alan, good eyes dude.

Very, very nicely explained and informative thread! Great job lexusk8!

BTW, if you do a search, you'll find a member with an 00-01 silver ES300 debadged the "LEXUS" and "ES300" from his taillight about a year or two ago. Looks very nice.

Thanks Xenon, really appreciate the response! Like I mentioned before, I decide to retain the "ES 300" badge based on personally maintaining the relatively stock/modded look on the car (and I bet most people wouldn't even notice the badge on the cleared-out tailight since it's kinda subtle)

Default debadging project

I really never really thought the clearing the tail lights made much of a difference until your pics. it does look good !!

I would like to remove the the lexus and the ES 300 on the tail lights but I was told there is a funny indention in the tail lights after they have been removed.

Has anyone removed the ES 300 from the tail lights and has pics or any ideas I think it would look a little better with that embelem removed also.

I am pretty sure the 'ES 300' badge is not held by pins on the tailight, and just by double-sided adhesive. The indent issue is another thing; I can't really say how the tailight would look like without the 'ES 300'...

Default 1st-gen ES debadging thoughts

At a friend's wedding in NJ this past weekend, I saw a '92-'94 ES (w/ NY plates) with the 'LEXUS' badge missing (or stolen, is a more appropriate word ), revealing holes on the trunk lid. That tells me that all the rear emblems on a 1st-gen ES are held by double-sided adhesive and pins. I think the 'ES_300' badge on the tailight is raised by some plastic material between the badge and the surface of the tailight. Can anyone verify it? This must make it very difficult to be removed

And if you're curious as to how the ES looks like without the 'L' badge in the rear, here's a pic I found from meZoom's former ES

Default Debadging Questionaire

Good Morning
i was wondering how to go about the procedure in debadging the "lexus" and "es300" emblems from my car's rear. My only knowledge of it now is that you blow dry it and slide floss through it and afterwards goof off(sp) and wax. i would really appreciate if someone could fill me in on how to do it. thank you very much for your time.

still need to take a few more pics then there coming!!

Welcome to CL!

You pretty much got the gist of it. Blow dry them (or heat gun), floss (or fishing line) them out carefully... Then use goo gone or something to get rid of some of the adhesive....

What year ES do you have? Are you debading and then rebadging with other emblems? I know that 92-96 models have alignment holes when you remove them... I am pretty sure the 97-01's don't have the holes.
