More then likely no. I have owned 2 97 ES300's. My black one had the alt go at 45K. My current is a silver with 77K and its starting to go (power flickers) and engine jumps.
I think its one of the ONLY 97 weak points other then the driver side window seal coming loose and thus wind noise is evident. It's happened to both as well

Got the car back. Cost me $500 because I was impaintent and did not bring it to the dealer (dealer is 90 miles away and it would be a two week waite.) The alternator shorted out spiked and blew a $3 fuse.
