Default New ES Owner

I am switching over from the LS side to the ES side. I have been driving my moms 98 LS400 every day for about a year now and I absolutely love everything about that car, its like my baby. But its time to get my own ride and I'm gonna make it another Lexus. I have been in love with the ES since i was about 8 years old (1993) and I am going to go pick out a nice 94-96 ES300 in about a week. I am familiar with Lexus' reliability (rated the best in the business) and love the brand. My question is what kind of things should I be looking for when picking out the car? Anything major problems that can be avoided? I dont want to buy a car and realize that I need to put another $6000 to make it drivable? Any common problems that arise in the 94-96 ES that I should look for when buying?
Also, whats the difference between the first gen ES and the 97-2001 ES?
Your help is greatly appreciated and I hope to be a full-fledged Lexus OWNER in about a week. Thanks.

Roman

Congrats Roman on deciding on an ES as your next car Let me just say up front that the ES300 is one of the few cars in the auto industry with the least amount of problems, so you don't need to worry about putting aside thousands of dollars for service work. However, if you plan on purchasing one with high mileage, I advise getting the car checked up thoroughly before you decide on taking delivery. Just to name a few, things that could go wrong due to high mileage include the timing belt, oxygen sensors and spark plugs.

There are too many differences to point out between the 1st and 2nd-gen ES. Some of the main ones include exterior changes and upgraded engines. You can find out more info about these changes by going to the pre-owned lot in your local Lexus dealership, and taking a look around. The ES is the best-selling brand out of all Lexus.

You can't go wrong with ClubLexus either, it's top quality Lexus info at your fingertips
