I have a 1996 Lexus es300. The check engine light came on and the code reads 'P0305 indicates that Cylinder 5 had too many misfires within a predetermined period of time'. I replaced all 6 spark plugs, changed the 3 plug wires, and checked that the ignition coils met the test specifications. The car still seems to be misfiring. Any ideas why?

Have you swapped the ignition coils to make sure it wasn't a bad ignition coil?

If you don't get anywhere swapping coils do a balance test by disconnecting the injector connector on the suspect cylinder. Does the engine idle smoothly or does it sound like there is a miss? Listen closely at the tail pipe.
