And thoughts as to what I should pay? According to the ISM at sewell, it has all maintenance records, and the TB/WP was done at 90k. I am looking for something I can put another 150-200k miles on. I am a mechanic by trade so I don't mind fixing broken things, I just have a bad back so I need a comfortable car that gets better mileage than the 16mpg my Ram is currently getting for long trips, and is more comfortable than my wife's civic.

It's the usual stuff really,
- is the check engine light,
- does the abs, trac, etc lights go off
- was the cambelt done (it should have been), if it was, did they do the water pump, the tensioner, the cam seals (both), and the crank seal they should have. otherwise its a part job.
- does the AC work, does it smell, have the filters ever been replaced, has it been serviced, ever. at this milage it should have been at least one.
- is the gearbox smooth, does it change nicely, does it jolt between shifts or between reverse and neutral (dog bone engine mount failure),
- does all the electric windows work, and does the switch in each door work.

that's all i can think of, hope it helps. It's a nice tidy car by the look, i think it would suit your needs very well. But don't forget about the LS400 and LS430 models.

There are no decent LS's near me for sale, i have been looking for months. I have given up and switched gears over to the ES models. Found one in white a bit cheaper going to look at today. then on to the gold one if the white doesnt pan out

Too old for too much money, Sewell "premium" or not...

Don't let the nice detail fool you. Headlamps & fogs are faded. Odds are it'll need new HID bulbs, assuming it still has the originals.

Also, the front bumper looks like it was touched up, poorly, on the RH side and the rear bumper respray is pitiful... I get it's a 15 year old car, but they should be up front about that when you go see it... hopefully.

The 4th generation ES is a great car. Solid engine, smooth ride and luxurious interior.
Just make sure you drive it in stop and go traffic to see if you can stand the lag in the transmission and throttle.

A 2002 for more than $6K USD is quite high. Up here in Canada that would go for $3000 CAD which is like $2200 USD...
