1998 ES300 woodgrain steering wheel upgrade.
I bought a woodgrain steering wheel off a 00-01 es300 since I read in other forums that it's a basic swap.. However, when I tried to place the airbag in the new steering wheel, it wouldn't sit nicely.. It seems like the tabs on the steering wheel don't clear the airbag so the two don't sit flush to eachother..
My question is.. am i doing something wrong? from what I've seen, no one else has run into this problem so I'm wondering if I missed something?

I've seen 3 different airbag types on a Toyota and Lexus 1997-2001 so it may simply be a matter of having the wrong airbag type to fit the wheel.
Compare your old wheel carefully with the new one, also the torx screws may need to be pushed out somewhat in the plastic surrounds assuming you have that type or they will prevent the airbag from dropping in properly.
