Default Loosened brake fluid caliper, did not open bleeder

While changing out rear brakes on a 02 es300, I inadvertently loosened the brake fluid caliper/bolt on one side before realizing that I had the wrong bolt because a bit of brake fluid oozed out. I tightened it back up and then went on to loosen the other caliper bolt to swing open the caliper. I did not bleed the brake-fluid line using the small screw and finished replacing pads.

Backed out of the driveway and back into garage, brakes seem ok. Any advice on whether I can go ahead with driving?

TIA.

You're fine worst case the brake pedal will feel a bit softer but probably not. However, if you have not flushed the brake fluid in the last 2-3 years you should have it done this greatly extends the life of the system.

I second that it will be fine. Reare brakes does about 10-15% of the actual braking work anyway, it's all on the front really. The rear brakes just stablize the car in braking. I doubt any air got in from what you say, my money would be that I wouldn't bother to bleed that myself, if I made that error (I might, I get bored working on cars and sometimes stop paying attention and do silly things).

Bleeding the systems is something worth buying a few tools for, get a brake bleeding tool / system. they work really well.

Thanks guys, very cool to get responses from Canada and NZ. I did go out for a bit and the brakes seemed ok. Appreciate your taking the time to respond.
