Default Down stream O2 sensors - DENSO

Has anyone purchased Denso O2's (OE style)?

Are these considered comparable to the Lexus OEM O2's?

Is there any truth in the need to replace these in pairs (bank1 + bank2)?

Yes Denso is the preferred choice in this community, just make sure you get the right model for your specific application. There is a lot of misunderstanding with Air/Fuel and Oxygen sensors - believe it or not those are two very different models. If you buy from Lexus, you will pay a Lexus premium for the same exact part. Only difference is that Lexus made two different wire length for left and right sides, while Denso made one length for both.

Replacing both at once is not a bad idea but not required if the other sensor is still good. I replaced mine only when I got an OBD2 code for it.

Denso is all I buy.

Denso is the original equipment manufacturer of Lexus's O2 sensors. Denso makes sensors with different length wires depending on the sensors position on the engine. Denso also makes a universal sensor (Less expensive) but you have to splice on the old connector. Go the Denso website http://densoautoparts.com/find-my-part/vehicle-selection to find the correct part.

I never had a problem in my Lexus's or Toyota's replacing only one sensor but my experience with a PT Cruiser is different. In the PT cruiser the on-board computer compares the switching rates between the upstream and downstream sensors. So a new sensor will switch faster than an old worn sensor causing an error solely due to the different switching speeds.

In my experience if one sensor fails it is not long before the other fails. So if you want to be done with O2 repairs for another 100,000 miles replace them both. If you don't care, just replace the broken one.

I replaced my front bank 02, but not the others; however, I bought all 3 at the same time via Amazon (Denso), and saved a TON of money over buying through Lexus or even my local auto parts store. Have had zero issues since replacing just the one, but the others are in the tool box just waiting for their turn.
