Very nice, car still looks so good despite the design being 20 years old. How many miles are on it if you don't mind me asking?

It's in fantastic shape, I sold my 2001 that my dad bought new in 2000 with 240k going on 5 years ago and still probably the best Lexus I've owned

Thanks guys. This is truly my favorite car among the ones I own. Up until mid 2000, Lexus/Toyota manufactured very reliable cars. Then they were caught up with rapid growth and expansion and some of their core DNAs were compromised - I could draw parallels with Samsung, lots of similarities with product quality and recalls.

MrBooby, it was great meeting you as well. You really take care of your car well, which is already in fantastic shape!.

^ I find myself putting a lot more faith into the reliability of older toyota lexus cars. Sure the cars are still good, but I remember when leaking water pumps or blown shocks were unheard of on cars with less than a 100k and now are pretty much the norm. In my mind, the last years of the super reliable lexus were 2006-2007 when the LS430 and LX470 were being made. I'm actually looking into another 3rd gen 4runner as a winter car just because of the fact its nearly bulletproof.

Super nice and the color is also awesome. I also agree that late 90s and early 2000s is when Toyota made good cars. My 98 es300 will be 20 yrs soon and I can't seem to find a newer replacement for it
All these new cars have so much technology, which is not mature and I am sure lot of these things will fail in few years and expensive repairs.
Any suggestions on good SUVs, new or 3-5yrs old? (simple, don't need all the fancy tech)

Looks good! Just noticed your signature that we have very similar vehicles. I have a '00 ES300 and an '04 GX470. Interesting what you said about post 2000 reliability. I just changed my original ES radiator at 198k miles and I had to replace the original on my GX at 90k miles. Still love the overall reliability of the GX. My ES keeps running great. I'll keep both vehicles until they die

I love fall photography too! We probably should make a picture thread like we had for the winter pics.

I know its not an ES, but here's my Lexy and Lara I took the other day:

Beautiful pictures speedkar9. Third one is really good. If time permits, you may want to try the same spot as in third photo, parking the car right along the lamp post (not blocking the post) and taking with the same angle - of cause some how eliminating that trash can ...

How did you upload these photos to appear in large? . The reason I am asking is, when ever I post pictures in this forum, it always shows up as thumbnails. One has to click to view it.

I love the contrast in your photos, it makes the cars really pop. Beautiful work!

Wow really well taken care of despite 270k miles!

Fall Photography is something we don't have a chance to do with Hawaii Weather!

I have the exact same car but with only a fraction of the mileage. I really love this color combo and styling of the 2000-2001 ES300.

I don't have any plans to get rid of her any time soon!

Mind of I ask any major problems? My mom and sister both have a 99 and 98 Camry V6 so I know the issues that pop up are really similar.

Is the car running on the original Trans? Everyone says the 99-01 trans is less reliable than the 97-98. But I think that might be the case for nelegected or unmaintained examples.

Thankfully I haven't had any major issues with this car. Besides regular maintenance items such as brakes, fluids changes etc, following were replaced so far;
  • Oxygen sensors (CEL - 10 yrs back)
  • Knock sensor (CEL - 10 yrs back)
  • Oil control valve (one) (CEL - 3 yrs back)
  • Brake calipers (two)
  • PCV valve (preventive maintenance)
  • Front axles (along with CV boot)
  • Front shocks
  • Ignition coils near the firewall (3) (preventive maintenance)
  • Hoses (preventive maintenance)
Rest all are factory original including transmission. I do transmission service at about 45k miles and alternate between drain and fill and flush. Always with Toyota type-IV fluid on transmission. I average about 20k miles a year, so definitely not a garage queen and she is holding up so far.

Hope this helps.......

Thanks! Follow me on instagram (speedkar9) to see a few more pics.

My cars are dark colors, so they do contrast nicely against the lighter background. I use a Canon T5i DSLR.

Thank you! The colors are changing very fast here in Ontario Canada, while I took that 5 days ago I really doubt I could get the same scenery again. But yes, I get your point about the garbage can. It was raining while I took that shot so I didn't have much time. Plus it was in a rather wealthy crescent and I didn't want to stand out and get noticed!

I hosted my photos on photobucket. Then I copy over the [img][/img] tags in the forum and it displays it on the forum large. I don't upload the photos directly to the forum, otherwise you get thumbnails.
