Central locking/security system draining battery 1996 Gen2
I have recently had some issues with the battery draining on my '96 ES300 when the car is left sitting for more than a few days. This suddenly got worse, to where it was draining overnight. When I say drain, I mean completely.. it killed one older battery, drained it so far it wouldn't take a charge after.
I got some valuable info from a neighbor who said he had seen the taillights flashing repeatedly in the middle of the night. I then came out to the driveway late one evening and heard the doors locking and unlocking continuously, on their own. There was no key fob within range at the time (the range on my fob is very limited). On that occasion I did not see the taillights flash, just heard the doors "firing".
This seems to occur more consistently when the nighttime temps drop into the single digits C (under 50 F).
I could pull the alarm/door lock fuse but unfortunately there is a LOT of stuff on that circuit, including the interior lighting... and my car has a black interior. so it's like getting into a cave without the courtesy lighting.
Any pointers appreciated....

I would try unplugging the security/theft module it is behind the glove box not exactly sure where it looks like this. BTW the electrical system can go all haywire when a battery runs down.

EDIT: Link did not work at first but now is okay, I saw the pic.
Interesting about the battery, the one in there now isn't the best but it tests just into the acceptable range on a load test....
