How to Install CarPlay Unit in Lexus ES300
I have a 2000 Lexus ES300 and I would like to replace the existing car audio, cassette area with a CarPlay unit (specifically the Pioneer SPH-DA120).
1. Can I do this?
2. I would really like to keep the wooden feel of the area surrounding the audio area, but crutchfield is suggesting that I need an adapter plate. How can I still keep the wood grain feel without the plate? (please see picture attached
3. I am not familiar with how to do car electronics. Where would be the best place for me to learn about how to install it in my Lexus ES300 specifically?
Thanks in advance for your help!

Easy enough job when you use the adapter plate but you will lose the wood grain. Unless you're an expert in woodworking you won't be able to easily duplicate the look.

Thanks for the response, could you tell me which adaptor plate you used (sorry not very familiar with this topic) and maybe a picture of what it looks like now?

This thread is from 2016 and then was bumped in 2019 and now here we are in 2022 with another thread bump. I think the only person in this thread that's still around is LeX2k, so I doubt you will get a answer from the OP.
All you need is a dash kit to install a double din unit. To retain the wood grain your best bet is to find someone that can hydro dip to match.
