Default --1997 es300 key fob issue---

both my key fobs haven't worked in over a year or so an i'm getting to the point i might get rid of the car but for now i still have it and i tried to reprogram the fob again today and i get to the part where the locks cycle once after the reprogram BUT when i press the lock button nothing happens...battery is new and i haven't tried buying a used fob off ebay since i figured what's the chances both stop working. Only issue was my truck lights burned out when i was changing a led bulb in it and it cause some weird electrical issues but when i changed the fuse everything was fine except the fobs acted weird . They'd work on and off until once day they stopped working altogether. Now i did read it might be the "Factory Anti-theft Module" and it's located behind the radio and there cheap on ebay, about $20 , should i gamble and replace that or it's not worth it?

How about if you replace the LED bulbs in the tail light back to incandescent bulbs and see if your remote fob function turns back to normal?

They are linked, as the remote fob has to blink the lights when you lock and unlock the car. So if LED's show less resistance than incandescent lights, it might affect the locking function.

Do you have a neighbor or friend with a similar vintage Lexus that you can program your keys to and test that your remote is outputting a signal?

i don't have the bulb for it anymore but i did take it out and that didn't make a difference.

Now when my wife got home i used her key fob and reprogrammed it and it worked. it was working and we left for dinner and just got home and it's not working again. Went through the steps to program it again and it worked while i was inside the car i kept pressing the unlock and at one point it didn't unlock and i couldn't unlock it from inside either from the switch. I had to manually press the switch next to the handle...

No i don't know anyone with a similar car. Now i'm thinking it can be the door lock systems possibly but read it's expensive

Now it sounds like the button pads themselves are dirty. You can buy replacement rubber button pads on eBay.

don't think that's the problem. there not worn out or dirty because i took it apart. If that's the case then why would the other key fob not work?

Like i mentioned it works randomly now and that makes no sense to me
