I really need help. Sometimes engine runs rough and strong smell of gas and white smoke coming from exhaust. Local mechanic who I have been doing business with for 20 yrs said it was an exhaust leak. He fixed it but started doing it again the day after I picked it up. Does not do it all the time, no consistency. Doesn't matter if hot or cold. No check engine light and no codes from computer. Took it to Lexus yesterday and they can't get it to do what I have described. I'm at my wits end and hoping someone on this forum has had a similar experience. Plz help!

Possible that the ECU is going bad, even if there is no CEL. That would be my guess due to the sporadic nature of it. I feel like if it was something mechanical like the pump or a clogged filter, it would be more consistent? But I could be wrong
