Default Brake issue

1997 es300 with 180k miles. Front driver side brake pads wore out much faster than the other pads so I had those replaced and rotors ground down. While the pads wore down I noticed 2 grease smudges running from the brake area, over the rim, and towards the edge of the tire. I'm concerned that the brakes heated up when they were rubbing and melted the grease out of the wheel bearing. Is this even possible? I also have a new brake caliper that I can put on. Do you think the grease has melted out of the bearing and should I replace them?

Thanks
