2000 lexus es300 high rpms
I recently bought a 2000 lexus es300 with 146000 miles. I constantly have high rpms, at 60 mph im at 3500 rpms. Please help! Also while driving at 35mph my car seems to down shift making me have to push on the gas to keep going. Can someone please help thank you. I cleaned the Idle air control valve but only seems to make rpms higher and i have a rich smell of gas.

I have the same issue, bought the car 2000 es 300 lexus with knowing the car had a bad transmission. I replaced the tranny and now the car drives with high rpm's at 60 mph they're almost as high as 4000 rpms. The car is at a transmission shop now one of the codes was a bad speed sensor don't know if its the one on the tranny or not. Right now i'm at the mercy of the shop and we all know how that is. I too live in Washington if someone else has had this problem can you please help. Also the car had about 4 or 5 codes on it after the tranny was replaced. Knock sensor, speed sensor, intake sensor, mass air flow. please help

Check the connectors Fellas, I just had a P0125, found the wire at the connector broke off.
Also if Knock Sensor, change the harness the sensors rarely if at all goes bad. Basically the car is in Limp Home mode and will not go to OD.

Locate the component related to the error codes. Check the connector at the wires to check if you can see exposed wiring hanging on it's last thread of wires or worse a broken wire.
I.E. : The Knock Sensor, most likely at the sensors but that requires removal of the intake Penlum.
More simple checks: MAF, check the wire at the air inlet, can't miss it and so on.
For OP, next to the coolant metal cap.

I would have to agree with Draco. Start with a diagnostic reading at Advanced auto store and go from there. If there are zero codes showing, grab yourself a bottle of CRC Throttle body and air intake cleaner. ($10 at Walmart) follow an instructional video on YouTube on how.to clean yoyr throttle body of carbon and gunk. I will add a video on here later. It is a very cheap alternative to a worse problem, such as rebuilding a trans, which can easily cause your wallet/purse to have rug burn from how fast you would be shelling out money from it. Are you still having codes shooting off?

My 2000 Lexus es 300 will still not go into overdrive, I took it to a different tranny show and they're also saying that the transmission is good. The only code from ECM is a knock sensor, apparently there are numerous codes form the the abs module. I will add more information later.
