2001 ES 300 Transmission Issues
Hi all I appreciate any advice. My parents bought a 2001 es 300 brand new and kept it o give to my daughter for her first car, they never had any issues with it, true to lexus form. It now has 140k miles on it and we have had it about a year an a half. We have had our share of minor things, the latest not so minor being the transmission went completely out. We went ahead and replaced it thinking the car has a ton more life in it.
2 weeks after replacement she says she shifts the car into gear but it won't engage, we tow it back to the AAmco where the work was done, they kept it for days and couldn't recreate the issue, gave it back.
now 2 weeks later, she has the same issue with the gears, she says she shifts into gear and the car won't move. I went to get her and of course the car runs fine for me. I did notice that the car shifted rough one time while I drove it, but that's all. Any thoughts? Should I take it back again even though I have never had the issue and it runs fine for me? Could this be a different problem?

Have her record the issue on her cell phone.
Yes, if you noted rough shifting, something is wrong with the trans. was it cold when if slipped or when hot.
It could be simple as cable adjustment but let AAMCO correct it before warranty expires. You are lucky this usually happens day after the warranty.
Do yourself a favor and check the fluid, if burnt or too high or low after it is hot. Go to a level ground, open lid, pull the dip stick out let it idle for 3-5 minutes, Put dip stick back in quickly and pull it out quickly. Look on both sides for the proper level. use white paper towel to get a gauge of the color. It should be pink, if brown it is burnt.
