Trunk Randomly Stops Opening
My 2004 ES 330 trunk stops working. It's not the valet button. It may work for a few days with the key and the button then stop working for weeks.
I can hear the beep when I try to open it and then it just randomly opens and then stops again. This is so frustrating especially when I need to go grocery shopping and can't get in my trunk! Can anyone tell me if this is an issue with Lexus' or what I can do before I pay to get it repaired? Is it a fuse issue or a defect?

Greetings:
I have a 2003 ES300 and it has a manual trunk release which can be accessed through the small locking hatch door behind the armrest in the back seat. I'd be surprised if the smart engineers at Lexus dropped this feature. It is intended exactly for your situation. Just open the little hatch and feel around.
Good luck,

Hello Again:
The information in my message above is from the owners manual. I just tried the manual release on my 2003 ES300. There is a plastic loop you will find on the top edge after you open the hatch behind the rear armrest. On my car, the loop can be pulled toward the passenger side and the trunk will pop open. That should work for you until you make the electrical repair.

The trunk solenoid is probably failing, or there's a wire in the trunk loom that's cut.
Double check the voltage at the plug of the trunk latch. Then proceed to check the wiring for any broken wires down the trunk lid arm and into the body of the car.
Does the trunk only not pop open from the remote or does it not work from the button on the dash as well?
